Rootswork's mission is enbodied in our motto; 'Making Space for Community to Happen'

We do this through our projects:
The Rootswork Community Gardens, a Community Radio Station (WMRW.org, 94.5 fm), our Community Meeting Room, the Rootswork Fuel Buying Group, and the restoration and maintenance of our home, the East Warren Schoolhouse.

The Rootswork Fuel Buying Group creates financial breathing room for our members through fuel cost savings, while our fuel group's annual fuel group membership fees help to fund our community projects, and the continuing restoration of the historic East Warren Schoolhouse.

We are an all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit organization incorporated in 1996 through the efforts of then adjacent land owner Anne Burling and organic farmer Mason Wade, to preserve the East Warren Schoolhouse and surrounds for use by Warren and the Mad River Valley residents. 

RECENT NEWS

The Rootswork Fuel Group sign-ups are now open as of July 1st. This marks the beginning of the 2026-27 Fuel Season.

The new fuel deals with our four fuel suppliers are now under 'Fuel Group Details" at the top our homepage. Please consider the various options carefully before making your decisions regarding which option is best for your situation.

~There are often time sensitive fixed price offers that have to be acted on quickly, as they are 1st come-1st served for a limited time, and also have a fuel ceiling allotment that can't be exceeded.~

We urge our members and those interested in becoming members to sign up for our email updates, so as to receive advance notice and reminders of important news regarding our program. Email frequency is very limited, and we never share your contact information with anyone except your fuel supplier.

We now offer online individual membership accounts which can be initiated and maintained by each of our members. This means that , if they chose, each member will be able to log into their personal account page and see their status and fuel choices, and make any necessary changes. Printable downloadable and paper forms will still be available from the website and foyer of the East Warren Schoolhouse for those who prefer off-line methods for signing up.
